WxC is a full service telecommunications company (Telco) and is the third largest provider of fixed line toll services in New Zealand (behind Telecom & TelstraClear). It has grown steadily while developing and enhancing what is now the market leading convergent IP technology. The company was the first carrier in New Zealand to successfully implement an exclusive IP network core.

WxC has one of the most advanced integrated Telco-grade IP core platforms and management tools in New Zealand. WxC's NGN (Next Generation Network) has been designed and built entirely in-house and is the result of working closely with original equipment manufacturers of each of the network elements. By taking this integrated approach WxC has created a standards based, carrier grade network with robust architecture that will evolve with new technologies and services as they become available.

Telecom Wholesale endorsed WxC's network and technical capabilities when it awarded WxC the tender for Fibre to the Home (FTTH) IP-based services in new housing sub-divisions in November 2007. WxC also won the Telecommunications Carrier of the Year award in 2007 - the first time a non-tier 1 Telco, such as Telecom, Vodafone, or TelstraClear, has won the award.

WxC's competitive advantage has been achieved through the company having the foresight to pursue a full IP strategy at a time when very few carriers globally were starting down this path.

WxC leads the market with its ability to design and manage convergent VoIP and data services regardless of transmission methods including satellite, fibre, DSL, cable and wireless. All retail Telco services offered by the company have been running over its IP core since 2004, with more than 4 billion VoIP minutes having been successfully carried to date.
